Using a large 1hp motor allows the electronics to achieve a lowest speed of only 250rpm, with enough torque to be useful. The actual spindle speed is shown on a clear digital display. The tool rest and tailstock both slide smoothly along the bed and are securely locked with a large cam action lever. The tool rest itself is a round steel bar with optional lengths and shapes available, courtesy of Robert Sorby.
